Last week we saw the News & Observer get all in a tizzy regarding NC Senate President Pro Tempore Phil Berger changing their news headlines on Facebook.

News & Observer - March 9, 2017

Let's recap:

"... I ask that you not change the headline ..."

"I was surprised ... intentionally misrepresented our news articles by writing fake headlines on them ..."

Our question? - Has the News & Observer reported itself to Facebook?

Let us explain.

On February 5, 2017, Wake Watch noted how the News & Observer had "doctored" their headlines to a story - inflating numbers for a pro-illegal immigration rally in Raleigh.

From the initial article (in print and online):

and ...

and ...

Then something magical happens:

Suddenly hundreds has become thousands as the News & Observer "wrote fake headlines on them."

Wonder where Senator Phil Berger got the idea to doctor headlines? Why from the News & Observer itself.
