JIM MARTIN'S ARROGANCE

Many know that Wake County Board of Education member Jim Martin recently tried to shut down the First Amendment rights of those who disagree with him. Yes, some of those people were candidates. Jim "The Great Oz" Martin may not realize that candidates of numerous ideological persuasions speak at public meetings to express their views.

That includes Dr. Jim himself doing it. But there is a difference between how Dr. Jim presents himself and those he wanted to shut down present themselves.

The individuals Dr. Jim wants to prohibit speaking signed up per WCPSS rules and procedures. They express their passionate opinions within the rules of proper decorum and time limits. They finish speaking resume to their seat.

However Dr. Jim takes a different approach. Here's Dr. Jim in potential candidate mode:

Yes, that's Dr. Jim over the left shoulder of William Barber accompanied by Wake County Commissioner Susans Evans disrupting the First Amendment rights of others who may want to speak. He's yelling and singing. They shut down the meeting.

You can view Dr. Jim's antics from June 15, 2010 here.

Now he wants to use the legal power of the Wake County Public School System to shut down the First Amendment rights of whom he disagrees.

Dr. Jim - once again an arrogant hypocrite.

NOW THEIR SADDENED ...

For years the Independent Weekly has run smut ads all over the back pages of their magazine. Russ Stephenson has proudly touted their endorsement and promoted their work - never bothered by the explicit ads for prostitution, etc. found within.

But now this "saddens" them.

WAKE COUNTY PROGRESSIVE HYPOCRISY

Unless you've been on another planet for the last week, you've likely read, heard or watched something about the "evil" Republicans at the NC General Assembly. They did something that threatened the very fabric of our state, nation and world. It sparked "true" outrage from the left - resulting in protests and ultimately arrests from folks locally who were so passionate about transparency and the public will of the voters.

So, let's talk about their outrage. For twelve plus years, those same leftists worked in concert with City of Raleigh elected officials and Dix Park Conservancy folks, outside of the public eye, to push for the establishment of a park on the Dorothea Dix property.

Even the City of Raleigh noted that they conducted not one public hearing on this issue.

We had an initial $58 million purchase that was negotiated over the course of several years with absolutely no public hearing. Over 197 pages of closed session minutes with absolutely no concern. The final cost of this project remains to be determined but will easily run over $100 million.

Leftist agitprops like Yevonne Brannon - who appeared at the General Assembly last week (in the middle of the day - not dark of night) to protest this outrageous action, remained silent during the Dix negotiations that were done behind closed doors.

She also criticized the hiring of Wake County Public School System Superintendent Tony Tata for being "secretive":

“The relentless pattern of secretive behavior by the Board Majority is simply appalling,” said Yevonne Brannon, Chair, Great Schools in Wake Coalition. “In past superintendent searches, parents, students, teachers, community leaders and elected officials all had the opportunity to meet with prospective finalists."

Great Schools in Wake Coalition press release, 12-23-10

Of course, she silenced her criticism when her hypocritical bigotry was made clear.

Once again, the Wake County progressive left's principled talk is nothing more than political maneuvering and about power. Don't be fooled.

THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO DR. JIM, PART TWO

Last week we covered Dr. Jim "The Great Oz" Martin's ardent support for the separation of church and state. Here he is, from earlier this week, continuing that support for the separation of church and state at St. Mark's Episcopal Church.

WAKEUP WAKE COUNTY COMMISSIONER JESSICA HOLMES, JOHN BURNS AND MORAL MONDAY HYPOCRISY

First the background:

"This is step one and you best believe steps two and three will be following. This is just the beginning of our work towards worker's rights and our work towards women’s equality."

- Jessica Holmes, Wake County Board of Commissioners meeting - November 7, 2016

“I am one of thousands inspired by the fervent speeches of Rev. William Barber and other speakers at “Moral Monday.” The movement has garnered national attention, compelled hundreds to engage in civil disobedience and exposed retrogressive policies forced upon us by a runaway General Assembly. I have yelled, “always forward and not one step back” with the masses and sang old spiritual hymns while holding hands with new friends on Halifax Mall.”
- Jessica Holmes, Letter to the Editor (News and Observer, July 24, 2013)

http://www.newsobserver.com/2013/07/24/3054526/jessica-n-holmes-mondays-will.html

Over the last week, the national left has become apocalyptic that Donald Trump took a phone call from the Taiwanese President. It threatened the future of the entire free world.

Naturally, WakeUp Wake County Commissioner John "just four pizzas" Burns chimed in:

Yes, United States elected officials interacting with Taiwan risks global thermonuclear war. It's paramount that we show proper courtesy to China and its national leadership.

Which takes us to a trip made by WakeUp Wake County Commissioner Jessica Holmes as part of a delegation of elected officials to Taiwan to meet with governmental and cultural leaders there.

Of course, you can see from the post that it's loaded up with an assortment of likes from the WakeUp Wake County progressive left cheering on her visit and interaction with Taiwanese elected officials.

The visit to the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall was also a nice touch of reverence to the Chinese government.

Of course John Burns reminds us that it's paramount we show proper respect to the Chinese government.

But our own when traveling as an elected official visiting from the United States of America?

"It crossed my mind, but I'll be back."

So WakeUp Wake County Commissioner Jessica Holmes was "1 of 10 young leaders across the U.S. chosen to represent my country." Not even off the plane and she takes to trashing the next President of the United States of America. Nice protocol.

"America is OUR country and one
election cannot change that."

We're sorry Jessica that you are under the mistaken notion that you, William Barber, John Burns and the entire Immoral Monday movement have ownership of this country. But keep the narrative going. Don't forget to remind Wake County families who want community schools they are racists as well.

YOUR LATEST GREAT HYPOCRITES IN WAKE UPDATE

Teachers (supposed to be role models) go in the middle of the street and block traffic:

The left cheers and encourages blocking traffic.

But abortion protestors:

Purportedly block a driveway and the left goes hysterical and gnashes their teeth. Of course, they have falsely accused Hand of Hope - a crisis pregnancy center - of doing this. Of course, no police report was filed because when the officer arrived, no one was present. Calla Hales, an administrator at the abortion clinic just makes a blanket assertion. In this era of smart phones and instant access to recording devices, funny how we have none in this instance.

Over the course of the last year, there have been very few police calls at A Preferred Women's "Health" Center. Even fewer that may have an even remote relation to protestors.

Yet, Calla Hales - an administrator at a "health" center whose mission is to end lives, asks that the Raleigh City Council deny a permit based on safety.

RALEIGH: A CAPITAL CITY OF BIGOTRY

Yesterday we reviewed the hysteria created by Wake County's progressive community and elected officials concerning HB2. We also pointed out the hypocrisy.

We continue with that today.

Let's start with Mayor McDowntown's own lofty denunciation of HB2:

Mayor Mcfarlane is proud to stand with her transgender allies in Raleigh and in solidarity with Charlotte's "bathroom" ordinance.

And of course the local LGBT community has chimed in:

So the question arises, what legal ordinances govern the use of bathroom facilities within the City of Raleigh? Sec. 13-2015. speaks to that:

"it shall be unlawful for a member of one sex to enter or use a facility provided for members of the opposite sex."

Maybe when the local left quits using this issue as a whipping boy to attack Republicans in the North Carolina General Assembly and Governor McCrory, they can head a few blocks down to Hargett Street to address the hard core transphobic bigotry found there.

Maybe Tim Giuliani and the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce can issue a statement condemning Raleigh's intolerance and bigotry. They won't - because they're hypocrites. The Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce only condemns local government when it comes to neighborhood schools

MEEKER, HIS MINI-ME AND THOSE WAKE DEMS ON HB2

Mayor McDowntown (Nancy McFarlane) and the Wake County Democratic Party have predicted the North Carolina apocalypse since last week when the North Carolina General Assembly passed and Governor McCrory signed HB2. No doubt former Downtown Raleigh Mayor Charles Meeker would echo these sentiments.

We've got to dutifully acknowledge their greater environmental stewardship than Republicans - particularly on the recycling front.

In recent years they've perfected the art of recycling.

"national embarrassment," "bigot," "George Wallace," "destroy jobs," "wreck the economy," "racist," "Old South," "discriminatory," etc. The list could could cover countless pages.

First it was 2009 and 2010, when Wake County voters made clear their desire to end the failed socio-economic diversity experiment known as forced busing.

Then they dusted off the thesaurus for the 2012 Marriage Amendment vote.

And of course we now have HB2. They didn't even box up the thesaurus from 2012.

"pioneer in bigotry"

"back to 1885"

"risks inciting violence"

They've also suddenly become feverish supporters of local control. They're outraged that the NC General Assembly and Governor McCrory would dare interfere in the affairs of Charlotte and their efforts catering to the transgender lobby.

"aggression against local governments"
"about power"

"overreach"

They've also implored us to buckle under to public relations pressure from national and international corporations that have buckled to national pressure from transgender organizations.

Of course, WakeUp Wake County Commissioner Matt Calabria has a long history of catering to the LGBTQ community for political gain - going back to his campaign for Student Body President at UNC-Chapel Hill in 2004:

This did, however, send us at Wake Watch back down memory lane a few years.

"Raleigh Mayor Nancy McFarlane caused a stir Wednesday after saying that uncertainty about the new Wake County student assignment plan is beginning to hurt efforts to recruit businesses and families to the area."

"Harvey Schmitt, president of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce and a backer of the new choice plan, said he was not aware of any company that has chosen not to relocate to Raleigh because of the school system."

Even Harvey Schmitt, an ardent diversity proponent, rebuked Mayor McFarlane's false hysteria she was peddling.

And catering to national and international voices on issues affecting our local community? In the same article, Mayor Charles Meeker had this to say about local elected officials who moved to Wake County from the Northeastern United States - as many Wake citizens have recently done:

"Meeker said the board's Republican members "are not from the area" and "don't share our values."

So Meeker's "values" are forced busing over the objections of local families and presumably catering to the transgender lobby? Yes, we should listen to large national and international corporations when it comes to issues affecting our local communities on transgender bathrooms but disregard the views of duly-elected Wake County Board of Education members when it comes to neighborhood schools.

And meddling in local affairs? They were full aboard when it came to legislatively mandating forced busing and interfering in the daily lives of Wake County families and their children.

Yes, they wanted to use the power of the law to forcibly remove school board members who supported neighborhood schools. They also wanted the NC General Assembly to usurp the power from local school boards to make decisions they felt best on student assignment. So much for that local control fetish. Hands off transgender bathrooms. Hands on local families. It's becoming clear now.

HB2 - just more political election-year regurgitated hysteria from the left.

CHRISTINE KUSHNER: #WAKE ROCKS

That's why she moved her children from the Wake County Public School System to an elite public school in Durham at an annual cost of $28,000 to North Carolina taxpayers.

BECAUSE ...

Dumping yet hundreds of thousands of dollars more into downtown Raleigh fits in with the WakeUp Wake County Board of Commissioners and Sig Hutchinson's 2016 priorities:

We don't see Sig Hutchinson going to a Raleigh City Council meeting to advocate on behalf of South Park do we? Maybe he can drink a latte on Fayetteville Street and talk about his priorities to care for them.

What would another $645,000 initially allocated for Bike Share do for South Park and Southeast Raleigh? Probably quite a lot.

But that's not where Green Jeans' heart lies. He's set on raising sales taxes for this poverty stricken African American community for an ineffectual transit system that will have no beneficial effect on their community.

His colleagues on the Raleigh City Council have subsidized the RLine - providing free bus fare for white Drunktowners while raising fares on poor African American Raleigh citizens in Southeast Raleigh.

News & Observer, August 13, 2014

Total cost allocated for the RLine route in 2015 was $936,347.  The cost works out to $4.74 per rider.

Yes, close to $5 a per person subsidy while poor African Americans are subject to fare increases.

Rather Green Jeans wants to use transit as part of the WakeUP Wake County Board of Commissioner's underlying priority of using poor African-American children as pawns in an ongoing failed social diversity experiment.

Sig may talk a good game via paper priorities. In his heart, he's a hypocrite.
